What is Reconstructive Urology?
Reconstructive urology is a highly specialized branch of urology that deals with surgical treatment for the restoration and repair of urological organs (urinary and genital tract) damaged by diseases. Some of the common conditions that are treated with reconstructive surgery include:
- Male and female incontinence: Inability to control urination due to weak bladder muscles
- Female pelvic organ prolapse: Drop of pelvic organs from their normal position due to weak underlying supportive muscles and tissues
- Urethral strictures and trauma: Narrowing of the urethra due to poorly managed trauma
